Shawl Pattern Sale/Fundraiser

I’ve shared some of my crocheted and knitted projects I’ve made for my friend, Lynette, who is fundraising to adopt a second special needs child from China. Adoptions (especially international ones) are insanely expensive.

Her sister, Larissa, is a talented knitting pattern designer and is offering her brand new shawl pattern, Ultra-Eyelet, at a discount ($2.99!) and all proceeds from the sales will go towards the adoption fund.  It looks like a fabulous pattern to use up all your leftover bits of fingering weight yarn. The promotion ends on August 19th.

Please consider purchasing the pattern to help one more orphan find a forever home!  Thanks for reading!

Knitted Star Bunting

Pretty sure you don’t want to see another crocheted amigurumi from me. This post is a refreshing change of pace.  I was very, very happy to have knitting needles back in my hands again!

I whipped up a primitive/country style mini bunting for my cousin’s adoption fundraiser auction. It’s going to be hard to give this one up!

The auction is in June, so I figured a patriotic-inspired bunting would appeal to a lot of people since Independence Day is right around the corner.

I used fingering weight scraps and a size 1 circular. The first time I made this pattern, it was on dpns and the first two rounds were quite fiddly. This time, I did magic loop and I’ll be sticking with that method from now on.  It was MUCH faster and easier.

I strung it up with some simple hardware store twine. It comes in a huge roll and works great for tying up cardboard. Turns out, it also adds just the right amount of primitive country-ness to the star bunting, too.
My Ravelry Project Page (with my mod for making the stars slightly pointier than the original pattern)

Flower Crazy

Dear Readers,
I’m still knitting. I even have a drafted post about a bunch of projects that have been recently finished. I haven’t gotten the pictures from the camera to the computer to Flickr to this blog. That would require a decent chunk of time… and most of my free time comes in delicious little bites, not an over the top feast.

Anyways… I do have time to upload this picture from my phone and write about it.

(This one obviously needs some finishing to hide those raw edges in the middle.)

Thanks to Claire from the blog Mollie and Claire, I discovered kanzashi flowers and the nifty little template/jig thing manufactured by Clover* that makes them super easy to sew up. I loooove these things. I’ve been playing around with them during naptime the past two days. It’s practically instant gratification and now I want more styles and sizes. 😃

* I got mine on Amazon for about $5.
