Proper FO Pics- Ruffles and Sproutlette

I’ve just returned home today from a wonderful vacation to the Great Smoky Mountains. How wonderful? Hubby is already planning our next visit. No joke. He’s right next to me on the couch on his phone scrolling through cabins trying to decide which one we want to rent next time.

Anywho… While we were on holiday, I snapped pictures of my girls wearing their knitted frocks. I had grand dreams of taking photos in the GORGEOUS gardens of the Biltmore Estate. But Hannah didn’t take a nap before our visit, and we ended up having to do the dreaded walk of shame back to the parking lot as she screamed and carried on in the stroller. Being 2 1/2 must be tough. She passed out in the car as we drove away from the estate. We stayed on the grounds and parked over by the farm/petting zoo/ wine shop/ ice creamery and let the gals snooze. After an acceptable amount of nappage time had elapsed, we woke them up and made the best of the rest of the day at Biltmore. So instead of beautiful gardens, the backdrop for these shots is the petting zoo. Ah, well. You roll with the punches when little kids are involved. On to the pictures!

Up first, Ruffles:

Not a Bad Place to Knit

image

The start of a cardi for Ell' in the always delicious Malabrigo Rios.

Knitting in a rocking chair on the porch of our Smoky Mountain cabin while the rain falls.  Got about 3 stitches done before Ella woke up from her super short nap.  Ah well.  It was tranquil while it lasted.  Here’s hoping for a week of little, happy, peaceful moments with my loves.

Photo Friday (okay, Saturday)- Walt Disney World Edition

We went to Disney World. It took about half the week before I figured out how to juggle carting the Little Ones around and taking pictures. In the end, I got quite a lot of shots. In no particular order, here’s the first installment of Photo Friday: Walt Disney World Edition.

Tea Cozy Tuesday- No FO

Sigh.  I have absolutely no progress to report on my Tea Cozy KAL.  I was on vacation last week and didn’t bring it with me.  This week, I’m attempting to recuperate from said vacation (2 kids under the age of 2 plus a car ride from New Jersey to Virginia and back again).

I haven’t knit a single stitch since arriving home on Sunday.  Maybe today will be the day.  Or tomorrow.  Or the day after that… :)

Until I become crafty again, here are some hastily shot pics. To preface them ,  this area of Virginia got 2 inches (yes, inches, not feet) of snow.  Two days later, we attempted to visit some plantations…

Look at all that snow! Haha.

Really?!

So we learned that Virginia pretty much shuts down when they have a bit of snow.  In fact, their schools were closed from Tuesday to Friday!  Meanwhile, back in coastal New Jersey, we had 14 inches and as soon as the roads were plowed, everyone went about their business.  Lol

V-day Weekend

On Saturday, Hubby and I drove to upstate NY for a nice little Valentine’s Weekend getaway.  We toured Howes Cavern and visited the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.  We wore our Phillies caps, of course! =)  I had a great time and since it was the “off season” up there (i.e. very cold and snowy), there were hardly any other tourists.  It was perfect!  One of the best surprises was that it was Cooperstown’s “Winter Carnival” and we were able to get into the HoF for $3 a piece instead of $24!  Score!  We took a bunch of pictures and you can check them out on my webshots acccount:
