Burton Bear Cowl

So much cute I can hardly stand it!  The thought of a teeny infant version almost makes my ovaries quiver.  Then I remind myself that my 10 month old still wakes up every 2-3 hours every night for a quick drink from Mama and I practically live (make that “survive”) on caffeine.  I think Baby #3 can wait a bit longer.  :)

This is the Burton Bear Cowl.  It’s nearing the 800 project mark on Ravelry and if you’ve spent any time on Pinterest, you’ve most likely seen it there at least once.  That’s how my husband’s cousin’s wife (got that?) came across it.  Being the only knitter she knows, she asked me if I could make one for her 18 month old son for the winter in dark gray with a black button.  No problem!

The pattern was simple, mindless, and was finished in about 4 hours (I know I could do it in 3, now).  The only thing i did differently was to use a 3 needle bind-off instead of seaming the top of the hood.  It’s faster and produces a nicer seam, in my opinion.

I only have super quick cell phone pictures of Hannah modeling it.  I’m not sure if I’ll have time for a proper shoot before this gets delivered.

Oh….and my customer was so happy with the picture I sent her that she ordered two more for her nieces!

  1. I am dying of cute. Also, I love your neon pink nails!!

    • Peel and stick nails! Seriously! They’ve been going strong for 4 days now. I can stick them on and immediately start knitting, picking up babies, folding laundry, etc. :P The color just makes me smile every time I look down at them.

  2. Saracrafts – you won my craftroom giveaway! Can you please send your mailing info to me at salpal1 at earthlink dot net? I’ll get that right out to you!
