Fall Foliage- A Scale Would Have Been Really Useful

image

Look at all this leftover yarn!  :(  I played it safe and stopped at 62 stitches.  I could have increased SO much more. Maybe a good soak and block will give me a bit more length?  Maybe?  Live, learn…and hopefully invest in a good kitchen scale before my next shawl.

Now what to do with the leftover yarn?

Fall Foliage Shawl- Almost There

I hadn’t knit in 4 days and was feeling rather sad about it, so when both girls napped AT THE SAME TIME this afternoon…  :)

I decided to stop Spring Cleaning my kitchen.  I plopped down on the sofa with my knitting and put the first episode of Great Expectations (BBC 2011) on Netflix.  I love, love, love Dickens’ writing and so far, I’m loving this adaptation.

Onto the knitting.

I started and finished the last short row section of my beautiful little shawlette.

I am still loving this pattern.  She lays everything out so clearly that I haven’t had one moment of hesitation while knitting it.  It’s wonderful when a designer doesn’t make you guess or assume.

And now I’m off to finish dinner.  If all things work in my favor (unlike last night), Ella will go to bed at a decent hour and let me begin the second decrease section…

Fall Foliage Shawl- In Progress

Image

I’m knitting my first shawl! It’s a sideways pattern called Argante. An awesome feature of this pattern is that the lace border is worked as you go. No picking up a bunch of stitches at the end.

Image

I was gifted a pretty skein of Sunrise Fiber Company sock yarn. The colorway is “Champagne”, but it reminds me more of yellowing Fall leaves than a glass of bubbly.

The garter stitch is wonderfully smooshy and I know it’ll be even better after it’s blocked.

I’m a little farther along than these pictures show. I increased to 62 sts in the garter stitch section and have done a couple of rows of decreasing. I am now more than halfway done. It’s knitting up quite quickly despite my limited knitting time, so I am definitely loving this pattern.

Could someone push me around the grocery store like this? Anyone?

My new toy. As if I have even come close to figuring out the camera itself. I've gone and added a manual external flash. *snort*

Instagram + Knitting

I’ve very recently started including more knits to my Instagram.  You know, so it’s not 99% kiddos/ 1% knitting anymore.  :)

You can find me under the name sarammc.  I love drooling over other people’s knits, so give me a shout and I’ll add you!

My most recent post?  A sneak peek of Ella Gail’s Easter Sunday Tunic and a query on styling it.  Leggings or a pair of floral bloomers?  (Oddly enough, in the picture, it’s being tried on with a pair of floral leggings…) It’s going to be worn to church, followed by dinner with our extended family.

30 Day Photo Challenge- FAIL

Remember my 30 Day Photo Challenge?  Well, I never started it.  Lol. Today should have been my very first post, showcasing my first week’s efforts.

I decided to wait until April when the weather is (hopefully) warmer and the little gals and I can take photos out of doors.  Oh, and Ella Gail may be sitting up by herself by then, which would make taking photos a lot easier.  :)

Until then, here are a couple of pics from my phone:
