Tea Cozy Tuesday- No FO

Sigh.  I have absolutely no progress to report on my Tea Cozy KAL.  I was on vacation last week and didn’t bring it with me.  This week, I’m attempting to recuperate from said vacation (2 kids under the age of 2 plus a car ride from New Jersey to Virginia and back again).

I haven’t knit a single stitch since arriving home on Sunday.  Maybe today will be the day.  Or tomorrow.  Or the day after that… :)

Until I become crafty again, here are some hastily shot pics. To preface them ,  this area of Virginia got 2 inches (yes, inches, not feet) of snow.  Two days later, we attempted to visit some plantations…

Look at all that snow! Haha.

So we learned that Virginia pretty much shuts down when they have a bit of snow.  In fact, their schools were closed from Tuesday to Friday!  Meanwhile, back in coastal New Jersey, we had 14 inches and as soon as the roads were plowed, everyone went about their business.  Lol

I took advantage of Ravelry’s stash feature for the very first time.  Thanks to some destashing from Moby Knit plus a belated Christmas gift from her as well (this and this), I realized I had started to amass a small stash of usable yarn (besides the little bits of skeins & hanks I have laying around).  It all looks so neat and tidy:

I think I have a few more skeins I can add once I dig them up and photograph them.  Now it’s time to start knitting from my “stash.”  :)

Tea Cozy Tuesday- Progress Report

My third week of Stitches n Scraps KAL!  I finished the three pieces, connected them with the final rows of ribbing, and seamed the bottom.  The middle gaps are where the handle and spout will stick out.

It’s looking adorable, but I haven’t found the perfect buttons, yet.  I’ll be scrounging around in my button jars for just the right ones.

Next week you’ll see a (hopefully) finished and blocked cozy.  :)

WiP Wednesday- Buttercup Dress

I had to grab these pics off of my Ravelry page since the originals are on our computer. It’s a work-at-home day for Hubby so he gets to hog the computer all day. I’ll swap the pics out tonight. Until then, enjoy these not so great photos.

My darling Hubby gave me a pattern and yarn for Christmas!  With the help of my dear friend Meghan, he navigated Ravelry, picked a pattern from my queue, and bought the proper yarn. He knows me all too well and selected a beautiful navy blue (KP’s Galileo in “Lunar”).

The pattern is the little girl’s Buttercup Dress. I think it’s darling and plan on pairing it with a sunny yellow shirt. I was inspired by a window display at Baby Gap. Who knew navy blue, white, and yellow could look so cute together?

I started with a cabled cast on since I didn’t want anything that made the yoke stretch too much and I think it pairs nicely with garter stitch.

This one is a size 2 years for my daughter, Hannah. If I have enough yarn leftover, I’ll fiddle with the numbers and knit a 6 month size for Ella.

Tea Cozy Tuesday- Casting On and Such

I chose a skein of Lion Brand Wool-Ease that I had laying around.  My goal is to use supplies I already have on hand and I’m hoping I can dig up some buttons that will work.

The bottom of the cozy is ribbed, so I stuck with the long-tail cast-on.  I’ve been working on it here and there whenever I have a little bit of quiet time.  Yesterday I finished the back piece:

I’m having fun with this pattern so far.  The cables keep it interesting and the small size means it’s working up quickly.

I’ll be checking in next Tuesday with another progress report.

My first post of the Tea Cozy Tuesday KAL!  January’s pattern is the Aran Sweater.

To kick things off, I’ve decided to post pictures of some of the tea pots in my little collection.
