Antler Cardi in Action

I finished Ella’s Christmas sweater a few hours before the deadline.  Our Christmas festivities were rather hectic so I didn’t get any good pictures until yesterday.  Here’s Ella rocking her Antler sweater:

Her red hair is finally starting to show up in pictures. I love it!

Aviatrix Hat

Image

Look at my cutie!  She decided to be a little Ham the day after Christmas and I took full advantage of it.  :)  These photos were taken with my brand spankin’ new camera.  I am beyond excited (and shocked) to have gotten a “fancy” camera for Christmas! I’ve spent the last 3 or 4 years wishing for one and my sweet Hubby made it happen!  Now to figure out how to use it to it’s full potential…

Back to the hat.

The pattern is Aviatrix and was SO much fun to knit!  It’s free, has a decent size range (NB -5 years), you can choose between 3 yarn weights, it’s knit flat, and is gratifyingly quick to make.  I crocheted a big, obnoxious flower for it.  C’mon, I’m only going to be able to dress her up for so long… ;)  My little Ella Bean has a matching hat (with a slightly smaller obnoxious flower), but I don’t have any decent pics of her wearing it, yet.

Merry Christmas!

image

Wishing all my blogging friends a very, merry Christmas!

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

And this will  be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Knitted Birds

Heavens!  Two posts in one day!  I’m in the car on the way down to my folk’s house for Christmas.  It’s too dark to knit, so I might as well post those Christmas ornaments I mentioned a little while ago.

Knitted Birds.  Oh so cute!  I went rustic and folksy with them since I’m sorta lovin’ primitive/country decor right now.  I wish my whole house was in that style!

I don’t have a Ravelry page up for them. Maybe I’ll get around to it. I did both using magic loop instead of dpns. A lot less fiddly, especially with the tiny blue bird. Oh, and I stuffed them through the head during the decreases. It’s way too much of a pain to stuff though the tail.

The turquoise one is made in fingering weight with size 1 needles. It’s probably about 1.5″ tall.

The brown bird is made in Cascade Eco (it’s a worsted weight) and size 4 needles. That one is about 2″ tall.

Antler-Day 7

image

I had to do a quick steam blocking since there's not enough time to wet block.

My last full day of knitting Antler before the deadline.  I redid the buttonhole band four times and one of the underarm kitchener seams twice.  A tight time frame and being a perfectionist just does not mix.  It’s certainly not my best work, but I love the pattern and will totally make it again (when I have time to enjoy knitting it!).  It still needs buttons.  I may have to sew them on tomorrow.  Right now, I’m busy packing, doing a load of cloth diapers (so we don’t come home to a smelly house, haha), and getting ready for the drive to South Jersey.  Oh, and I need to feed Hannah dinner, too.  How could I forget that?

Antler- Day 5

Knitting in the car.  The cabled yoke is done.  Hoping to knock out the neck ribbing tonight.

*All About Hannah*

She’s nearly 21 months old, very opinionated, and soaking things up like a sponge.  She loves to shout her version of the alphabet (there are a lot of “A”s and “S”s), sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and count to three.

I had Hannah try on her Christmas dress. She knew it was a very special outfit and strutted all over the house.

Obviously, Daddy's snow boot is a perfect fit.

We had a small storm last weekend. Hannah loved sitting on the radiator watching the "no" come down.

Hannah won yesterday's "Battle of the Bookcase." Sigh.
