Cupcake w/ Sprinkles- Completed

Remember that baby sweater I started waaaay back in April?  I finally got around to finishing it 2 weeks ago.  All I needed to do was sew up the tiny armpit seams, weave the ends in, and add buttons.  It really shouldn’t have taken me this long, but I shoved it into my knitting drawer and forgot about it.  Poor little sweater.

Since I used a worsted weight instead of dk, the sweater turned out larger than newborn size.  I’m estimating it to be around a 3-6 month.   Thank goodness I had these super cute pink buttons in my stash.  I think they match the sweater perfectly.  So girly!

Chevron Lace & Buttons

The pattern is super easy to customize.  Next time, I’ll try adding some cool cables and maybe I’ll change the ribbing to garter or seed stitch.  This time, I used a Chevron lace chart from The Knitting Stitch Bible ‘09 edition, page 175.  I waited until I had 14 stitches on each of the front panels before beginning the lace because I didn’t want the lace pattern’s yarn overs to interfere with the raglan increases.  This super girly sweater is now packed away in my Baby Box in the top of my closet.  I’m sure it’ll get some use one day.

Test Santa

He looks a bit like an oddly colored traffic cone...

Here’s the test of a crocheted gnome pattern. Someone on Ravelry turned it into the most adorable little Santa and I plan on swiping that idea.  Last year’s mini sweater ornaments were quite a success so now I need to find something just as cute for 2011.

My gnome turned out rather large. He stands 5″ tall with a bottom diameter of 3 1/4″.  I used worsted weight yarn and a size G hook for this one, so I’ll need to go down to sport weight and maybe an E hook to get the proper size.

Oh… I didn’t bother adding his little felt beard.  It was only a test, after all.

Dewberry Shawl

5 1/2 repeats completed

So, here’s a proper picture of my shawl in progress.  I added an extra repeat giving me a total of 101 sts.  I think it’ll be wide enough to satisfy me.  Unblocked, it’s measuring 16″ wide.   I’m still on the first ball of yarn and the piece measures 14 inches with nearly 6 repeats done.  I could have gotten away with another repeat widthwise, but since I didn’t do any kind of gauge swatch, I had no idea how far the yarn would go.  Oh well.  If I have enough left over, I’ll make a cowl.

Up close and personal
